Have you ever had one of those weeks?

You know, where you just feel like poo? And you're not sure where to start at to "fix" it?
I've been staring down a stack of unfinished Thank You notes. Yep, from my wedding. Almost 2 months ago. I've also become dissatisfied with a couple things around the house, namely the disorganized office, the stacks and stacks of old mail that needs to be sorted and filed, and the cheap and ugly bamboo shade I bought for the kitchen. Stupid, I know. But I needed something over the window to help block some of the drafts. We can't really afford a new window right now, so I thought this would help. Whether it does or not is up for debate. But I've come to really dislike it, and it really bothers me.
With Chris gone to Canada for business, and no wedding stuff to plan or think about, I'm finding my mind racing and my thoughts going all over the place! All of a sudden, the things that never really bothered me before are entering my thoughts. It's like, with nothing big or major to focus my attention on, I'm focusing it all over the place!
Well, I've come to the conclusion that I'm no Martha Stewart. I'm not some superwoman who can go about chores happily all the time. In fact, sometimes I'm downright lazy!!
So, I've decided to just try and take it one small step at a time. So I don't tackle the mounds of mail all at once tonight. I can catch up on laundry and Thank You notes (which really should be my first priority). So I don't go out and find some fabric and sew a new window shade for the kitchen. I'm not really sure what kind I really want anyways.
With work becoming busy again (hooray!), it's hard to cram everything that I'd like to accomplish into the evenings - from catching up on everyone's blog, to Thank You notes (yes, I've been putting them off).

Ugh. So please excuse this little mess of a post! I actually was going to post about the piles of mail and maybe do a before and after (you know, talking about organization and all that)... but the camera's batteries were dead. So it will wait for another evening. And maybe I'll finish those Thank You notes instead!

... Yep, I've had one of those weeks. A few weeks ago. So I hear ya!

And I think laundry can take precedence over thank-you notes. I mean, come on, no one wants you to wear smelly, dirty clothing! So having thank-you notes as the #2 priority is okay for now ... :)

And I'll be sure to post pictures of the potential bridesmaid dresses (assuming I can take pictures). And I like your & Jest's idea to let the girls pick between a couple dresses. 2 of the 3 dresses are very similar, so I was already thinking of letting them pick between them.

Good luck getting those TY notes out the door! And I hope you feel more settled and focused in the weeks to come!

You should check out the site I used:

Rachel,

I know all about the thank you notes. I still haven't sent out the thank you notes from my daughters birthday 3 months ago. For some reason I keep putting it off. I don't even have that many to write. Thanks for the reminder. Maybe I will get it done tomorrow. :)

Ugh... thank-you notes!!
I've only had to write 60 of them, from our first wedding shower. I have two or three that I need to write though!
We still have another wedding-shower, a lingerie shower, and the actual WEDDING. LOTS of freakin' thank-you notes!!

Chin-up!! Give yourself a few days to relax, and focus on the focus! (I know, sounds funny). You'll make it!

:( sounds like you need to rent a good movie, open some wine, and relax. While writing thank yous and sorting mail and laundry so the night isn't a total waste.

Hope things turn around.

I know exactly how you feel. I haven't finished my Thank You cards either OR posted wedding pictures. It's hard to get back in the swing of things after you've been so busy.

I went though that same horrible lull of not wanting to do a damn thing after the wedding. Shit was just piled up everywhere and my cleaning was as sparse as possible.

Then about 2 and a half months after the wedding coming back from Christmas and having a break I got a bug up my bum and just had to clean it all.

I went on an insane cleaning and organzing spree. It looks a lot better now, but I think some of the lull is back after overdoing it a touch.

I'm sure you'll get back your mojo soon enough, I say for now just do enough to scrape by and not drive yourself insane til the mood strikes again. No reason to force yourself to do something you don't enjoy.

I say sometimes it's OK to just ignore all that has to be done :) Maybe you just needed a few days of rest then you'll be ready to tackle it all!

I totally hear you---I think those first couple weeks after the holidays are always nuts as people get their acts back into gear! And don't feel bad about your thank you notes---I'm still sending out mine and we were married in AUGUST!

Sheesh, I'm totally embarrassed to admit it. But remember, people understand that life as a newlywed can get crazy, and they'll understand if it takes some time to get a note in the mail!
