All about the ugly

Normally, I'm all about the pretty and the nice. But I came across this picture and just had to share (kind of like when something in the fridge smells bad, and you ask your husband to come and smell it).

I call this look "Shabby Victorian", or "Shabby Vic" for short.

Please, don't ever ever do this to your living room. Or any room, for that matter. This is a mess.

Weekend plans?? Going to a free seminar on how to prep beds for vegetables, and how to make your garden more productive (maybe we'll get some tomatoes this year?), plus chilling at the casa with my huz. And the dogs. (Getting older is sooooo exciting.)

I hope you all go out and make the world a more beautiful place to live in this weekend!

*Edit - More ugly. Just saw THIS over at OneKingsLane... and OMG, it's sold out. Really??? Just because it's Missoni doesn't mean it's pretty. And $4239 for a 6'7" x 6'7" rug? That's not really cheap, either. Blech.

I remember at 14 going to Neiman's for the first time. I was all into fashion and excited to see designer clothes up close and personal. So much of it was so ugly I couldn't believe it. Money does not equal taste!
I think a lot of people buy designer items because of the name not based on what it looks like. I bet designers laugh all the way to the bank when someone buys their ugly pieces.
Have a great weekend. I'll be chillin' at home with my hubs most of the weekend. Saturday dinner with some friends!

$4239 is redic for that rug- like is it made out of woven gold or something??

Hope you have a wonderful weekend with your husband!

Yick. I will NEVER decorate my house like that...

a LITTLE shabby victorian is good but only when paired with tougher, edgier things...like steel and cement.
not a whole room. but...some people love that shit.
and punk victorian is IN right now!!

Something about the gawdy victorian room is actually fun. But not in my house! Haha.

Ohmigosh, I agree completely about Evan Lysacek! And you're right, Chan is just 19. I think it was a combination of nerves, an injury earlier this year, and his coach "quitting" on him a month before the Olympics. So, all in all, Chan should have a good time in Russian in 2014!

I think Belbin / Agosto and Virtue / Moir were my favourites tonight. Fun fact about Tanith Belbin: she was born in the same town as ME! In fact, our dads worked together and were friends. I think my dad still talks to him occasionally (they have the same employer still). Her dad was transferred to the U.S. by his work when we were in elementary school, and Tanith got her American citizenship just in time for her first Olympics!

How weird is that? :)

P.S. I looooved Johnny Weir's "crown" last night! He's so fun! I bet Tanith is having a riot bunking with him!

I totally agree about the room, way too out of control. The Missoni rug has some merit though. I could really be a grand focal point is the rest of the design is kept clean.
