Black shades are still pretty traditional and can act as a neutral, but are much less common than white or ivory shades. And while they don't let out as much light, they do create a kind of cozy feeling which is lovely as the nights grow cooler.
They work well in modern settings.
I've decided that I'd like to use at least one or two black lampshades in our house, I think it's a nice change to the standard white that we have everywhere. The problem is, I need to find a good and affordable source!!!! (So if you know, please share!)
What do you think - do you like black lamp shades?

Interesting. Sadly I don't know where one can buy black lampshades aside from a dorm room sale.
Maybe paint them, though that could also be a firehazard. Hey a roaring fire to go with the cozy light.
At least that would help to keep you warm!! ;-)
And I have thought of painting them, but didn't know if they'd look odd or not.
Ok I'm officially obsessed with the second and last pic! Love the design choices.
Love the last bedroom!
I used to be obsessed with lamps. I have a bunch of bases but no shades. I couldn't find ones I liked that weren't a fortune!
In case you decide you need another project you can make your own-http://www.diylife.com/2009/07/10/make-your-own-lampshade/
Check if these are the kind of lamps you are looking for..
