As for the pool post. Really? You didn't have pool fences? For many years, I only knew one person with a pool, my aunt and uncle. My aunt was super-safety woman: there was no requirement, but they had a 5' fence with a locked gate and a door with a lock at eye level (just like you described) for safety. My mom also required us to take swimming lessons as soon as we could, because my grandparents have a cottage on a lake. Until we were good swimmers, we couldn't go in the lake.
I didn't have knee pads and all the other stuff. But when it came to water safety, my family was careful.
Congrats Krista!!
What a great giveaway! Looking forward to more of your lovely blog :)
Oh that is pretty, congrats Krista!
Wow, Rachel, you have such sweet followers!
I doubt your parents had it in for you. We didn't wear bike helmets until we were teenagers. It just wasn't something anyone thought about until there was a local campaign. (Yeah, wearing a helmet goes over really well when you're a teenager.)
I suspect our parents were doing the best they could based on societal awareness of safety. It's a progession. We always wore seatbelts. But when my parents were kids (and probably yours, too), seatbelts weren't even in every vehicle!
