It's a shame that this (above) is not my closet.
I have been thinking of painting my closet, however. The one above is really pretty - maybe it IS worth all the trouble....
Anyhow, my closet was looking more like the one below. Sad.
After getting a few new things to wear to work this weekend, I decided it was time to tackle and organize the mess that was our closet. I'm really ashamed to tell you that on the floor in a heap was a sweatshirt and a sweater that have been there since, well, the last time I wore them. Which was a long time ago, seeing as it's now July.
I'm almost finished. I still have my shoes and old purses (and other random bits) to go through, and then to put it all back together nice and neatly.
Hopefully my closet will look as nice and organized as this one. That would make me happy - am I the only one whose hearts skips a beat when I see things all pretty and organized like this???
How often do you go through your things and clean out your closets?

unfortunately i have one of those closets built in the day when (apparently) people owned not more than 2 outfits. it is deeper than it is wide. also, anyone else out there who wears 20% of their clothes 80% pf the time? i try to purge at least 2x per year. just left 4 boxes of stuff (some never worn) at the door for a charity pick up today!
I try to stick to the one in, one out rule. I just bought a few new dresses so I need to make some room. I'm thinking I'm going to buy another dresser so I can move some tshirts out of the closet.
So funny that you posted this because I just spent my weekend color coding and organizing my closet! Obviously my weekend was very lame... My biggest thing is all my hangers have to match (nothing fancy, just black plastic) and there are no wire hangers anywhere. I hate wire hangers.
My dream is to have one of those huge walk in closets that are absolutely organized with all of those beautiful designs from Container Store. A girl can dream, right?
You are not alone. I could spend hours at the container store.
A gorgeously organized closet definitely gets my heart fluttering. I try to do a big purge at least twice a year...fortunately, I've moved almost every 12 months, so that has been enough encouragement! (The less I have, the less there is to transport!)
Not the only one! This post is making me itch to clean out my closet, if only for that self satisfied feeling of when its done and looking all spiffy like these!
I love the one in, one out rule Linda sticks by. Wish I could be as strict. I have nowhere to go with my closet. It's a small dinky one and so-not-as-wonderful as the walk-in that I used to have. Good luck. You have been an inspiration. I'm going home to clean out my closet.
